 IHM ASSIST 

IHM Assist is a call-centre which can be reached locally and abroad 24-hours 

per day, 7 days per week. The call-centre is managed and operated by IHM 

subsidiary, Medic Call Centre Sdn Bhd, and provides a wide range of medical 

assistance services:-

1) Hassle-Free Hospital Admission     

     - IHM Assist can arrange for hospital admission and issuing Guarantee 

       Letters for qualified  medical expenses due to hospitalisation.

2) Domestic Emergency Medical Evacuation and Repatriation

      a) Emergency Medical Evacuation

          - IHM Assist arranges and pays for the air and/or surface transportation, 

            communication and all usual ancillary services for moving members to 

            the nearest hospital in Malaysia where appropriate medical care is 

            available.

      b) Emergency Medical Repatriation

          - IHM Assist will arrange and pay for the return of member to his/her 

            place of residence in Malaysia following an emergency evacuation for 

            subsequent in-hospital treatment in a place outside the place of 

            residence in Malaysia.

 

Note: IHM Assist will provide for services in respect of Emergency Medical Evacuation, Emergency Medical Repatriation necessitated by accident, illness or death of member occurring when member is travelling more than 100 KM from the place of residence in Malaysia.

 

3) International (Worldwide) Emergency Medical Evacuation andRepatriation

   

    a) Emergency Medical Evacuation

        - IHM Assist will arrange and pay for the air and/or surface transportation,  

          communication and all ancillary services for moving member to the nearest  

          hospital where appropriate medical care is available.

    b) Emergency Medical Repatriation

        - IHM Assist will arrange and pay for the return of member to Malaysia following 

          an emergency medical evacuation for subsequent in-hospital treatment in a 

          place outside Malaysia.

   c) Repatriation of Mortal Remains

       - IHM Assist will arrange and pay for the transportation of member’s mortal 

         remains from the place of death to Malaysia or arrange and pay for burial at the 

         place of death.
 
   d) Compassionate Visit and Hotel Accommodation 

       - IHM Assist will arrange and pay for one economy return air ticket for a 

         compassionate visit if you are hospitalised outside Malaysia for more than 

         7 days.

       - IHM Assist shall pay for the accommodation expenses of your companion up to 

         US $1,000.00.
 
   e) Return of Dependent Child.

       - Accompanying dependent children (under 16 years) can be arranged to be sent 

         home, if they are unattended as a result of your hospitalisation.

Note:-
1. IHM Assist will provide services in respect of Emergency Medical Evacuation, 

    Emergency Medical Repatriation and Transportation of Mortal Remains 

    necessitated by accident, illness or death of member occurring when member 

    is travelling outside Malaysia for a period not exceeding ninety (90) consecutive 

    days on any one trip.

2. Medical Evacuation and Repatriation are carried out as a result of serious     

     medical condition and subject to the following terms and conditions:-

    (a) Part I – Definition

        SERIOUS MEDICAL CONDITION

        Means a condition which in the opinion of the appointed Assistance Company 

        constitutes a serious medical emergency requiring urgent remedial 

        treatment to avoid death or serious impairment to the Member’s immediate 

        or long term health prospects. The seriousness of the medical condition will 

        be judged within the context of the Member’s geographical location, the 

        nature of the medical emergency and the local availability of appropriate 

        medical care or facilities.

    (b) Part II – Terms and Conditions

         1. PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS

             Means any medical condition in respect of which the Member has been 

             hospitalised during the twelve (12) months period immediately prior to 

             the first day of the membership or any medical condition that has been 

             diagnosed or treated by a medical practitioner including prescribed drugs 

             within the six (6) months period prior to the first day of the membership.

         2. EXCLUSIONS

             The following treatment, items, conditions, activities and their related or 

             consequential expenses are excluded from the programme and IHM 

             Assist shall not be liable for: -

             - Pre-existing conditions as defined.

             - Emergency Medical Evacuation or Repatriation or cost not approved in 

               advance and in writing by the Assistance Company and/or not 

               arranged by Assistance Company. This exclusion shall not apply to 

               Emergency Medical Evacuation from remote or primitive areas, which 

               the Assistance Company cannot be contacted in advance and delay 

               might reasonable by, expected to result in loss of life or extreme 

               prejudice to the member’s prospect. 

 

 

4) Medical Service Provider Referral
    - IHM Assist will give you referral information on dentist, clinics or a doctor.

    - IHM Assist only give referrals and is not liable or responsible for members’ 

      condition.

 


5) Worldwide Medical Assistance

    IHM Assist will provide the following services to its members calling IHM Assist 

    Centre in KL at any time 24-hours a day and 365 days a year when they are 

    travelling outside Malaysia for a period not exceeding 90 consecutive dates on 

    any one trip: -

    (a) Telephone Medical Assistance

      - IHM Assist will provide medical advice to the members over the telephone.

    (b) Medical Service Provider Referral

       - IHM Assist will provide the name, address, telephone number and, if 

         requested by the member and if available, office hours of physicians, 

         hospitals, clinics, dentists and dental clinics (collectively, “Medical Service 

         Provider”).

       - IHM Assist shall not be responsible for determining the appropriate medical 

         speciality for handling the member’s particular problem nor for providing 

         medical diagnosis or treatment.

       - The final selection of the Medical Service Provider shall be the responsibility 

         of the member and IHM Assist shall not be liable in respect of any 

         consequences arising out of or howsoever cause by the services provided 

         by the Medical Service Providers referred by IHM Assist.

6) Arrangement of Doctor Appointments / Hospital Admission

    - IHM Assist will assist the member to arrange for appointments with general 

      practitioners or specialised doctors.

    - IHM Assist will not be responsible or pay for any consultation fees or other 

      costs incurred by the member when consulting with doctors referred by IHM 

      Assist.

    - If the medical condition of the member is of such gravity that hospitalisation 

      is needed, IHM Assist will assist the member by arranging for hospital 

      admission.

 

7) Guarantee of Qualified Medical Expenses

    - Please refer to “Hassle-Free Payment System”

 

8) Monitoring of Medical Condition when hospitalised

    - IHM Assist will monitor the member’s case while hospitalised by liasing with 

      the member and the treating physician or doctor.

 

 

9) Travel Assistance or Pre-Trip Information

    (a) Information on visa and inoculation requirements

      - IHM Assist shall provide information concerning visa and inoculation 

        requirements for foreign countries, as those requirements are specified 

        from time to time in the most current edition of the World Health 

        Organisation Publication “Vaccination Certificated Requirements and Health 

        Advice for International Travel Information” (for visas) prior to the member 

        travelling overseas.

    (b) Weather Information

       - IHM Assist shall provide the member with information concerning weather 

         and temperature for major cities of foreign countries.

    (c) Embassy referral

       - IHM Assist shall provide information to members regarding the address, 

         telephone number and hours of opening of the nearest appropriate 

         consulates and embassies, if requested by the member.

    (d) Interpreter referral

       - IHM Assist shall, upon requested by member, provide information to 

         members regarding the address, telephone number and hours of opening 

         of referred interpreters.

    (e) Legal referral

       - IHM Assist will provide the members with the name, address, telephone 

         numbers and office hours for referred lawyers and legal practitioners.

       - IHM Assist will not give any legal advice to the member.

       - The final selection of the lawyer or legal practitioner shall be the 

         responsibility of the member.


10) Domestic Automobile Assistance

      Should you require any automobile assistance in the event of your vehicle   

        breaking down, IHM Assist can arrange for (but at your own cost): -

      - Emergency Towing to selected garages
      - Roadside Repair.
      - Hotel Accommodation.
